The Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of
California is hosting a private screening of the documentary short
film, "One Little Difference". This is the first time
this powerful short film will be shown anywhere in the United
States. The event will take place at the Toyota Automobile
Museum in Torrance, California and will be hosted by actor
Debra Wilson Skelton, with a special appearance by a
surprise guest!
"One Little Difference", the
brainchild of producer Alexander Smith, will take the viewer on a
trip through what it means to be a young person on a quest for
normalcy through a special summer camp program. The camp program is
called
"Camp
Crescent Moon",
the chronic illness affecting those in this film is sickle cell
disease.
With tremendous assistance from
everyone involved with this 40 year old camp program (campers,
counselors, support staff, medical staff and other volunteers), the
crew of dedicated filmmakers gives the viewer the chance to hear
from the children IN THEIR OWN WORDS what it means to struggle with
this disease.
The viewer is also privy to the
comments and concerns of those who work diligently to support these
young people, not only for this week of camp, but beyond and into
their days when camp is over. You will hear from parents, siblings
and those who have grown too old to be campers any longer but return
each year to help their younger charges.
So please join us as we take a trip
to "Camp Crescent Moon". We promise that you will be
enlightened by "One Little Difference". You will see
the children play, hear them talk about their dreams and watch them
struggle for their place in the world. You will see that they
are like any other group of kids - with just "One Little
Difference".
