The BabySteps Program is an educational program designed to:
1) Enhance the ability of parents and
guardians to care for and nurture infants and young children
with sickle cell
disease.
2) Enhance the continuity of medical care for infants
and young children with sickle cell disease.
3) Introduce health care providers to the resources
available at the SCDFC that can add to their own care.
The program consists of three components:
Family Education- offering
workshops, individual sessions and annual statewide conference.
Support Services/Case Management
- including regular, on-going contact to ensure awareness and
access to necessary medical, social and community resources.
Health Care Provider Education - offering professional
educational workshops to address the special needs of infants with sickle cell disease.
This program is provided FREE of charge to parents
of
infants & children with sickle cell disease between the ages of 0-5 years.
Parents
and health care providers are encouraged to participate in this program.
