Important information
for persons with sickle cell disease and providers:
Individuals with
sickle cell disease may be eligible for a state insurance program
called the Genetically Handicapped Persons Program (GHPP). The
GHPP is a state funded program which coordinates care and helps pay
for medical costs for persons with sickle cell disease. Anyone
who is 21 years of age and older and who is a resident of California
may apply. Those under 21 may receive care through the
California Children Services (CCS) program. To apply please
call the GHPP at (916) 654-0503 or (800) 639-0597.
